On August 22 and 23, the Southern Bahia Lowlands received a wave of hope and connection: the volunteer program called “Na Onda do Bem” – In the Wave of Good, involving Ocyan and the Norberto Odebrecht Foundation through mentoring, got underway. The launching took place at the Presidente Tancredo Neves Rural Family Home -CFR-PTN- and brought together 30 Ocyan members and 30 students from three Family Homes, partners of the Foundation in carrying out its Social Program – PDCIS.

The program aims at to connect members of Ocyan, volunteers of the initiative, with students from the Family Homes, in a mentoring process focused on the development of life and career plans of young people. A series of dynamics and presentations connected the participants, who got to know their peers and could talk about their realities, dreams, and perspectives. The members of Ocyan, who will be their mentors, have also undergone training to conduct the mentoring, which will take place remotely over the next four months.

For many people, the immersion in the Southern Lowlands was a break of paradigms and meant a moment of great learning. “It was a deconstruction. We went out of our comfort zone to meet young people who know a lot and have a lot to teach”, Karla Xavier, member of the Control area at Ocyan. “It was very inspiring. We left as different persons. And the lesson that remains is that no matter the condition, if you have the will to do it and you have the opportunity, everything is possible”, said Osiel Barreto, from UNP Drilling at Ocyan. By connecting professionals and young students […]

The initiative seeks to expand the view of different realities and backgrounds and strengthen the exchange of experiences. “I had never experienced something like that before. I am very happy to be part of this program, to be able to exchange experiences with people we didn’t know and who already believe so much in our potential”, said student Thaissa Santos.

For Bruna Fonseca, Personnel Management at Ocyan, the expectations with the program were further enhanced with the launching in the Southern Lowlands. “We had an unforgettable experience by joining our executives in person with the oung people from the Family Homes. This is a program that has everything to do with our culture and we hope to strengthen what our founder, Norberto Odebrecht, taught us. We are very excited,” she said. “I hope that this alliance between people with such different views and perspectives can bring good results not only from a career point of view, but also in terms of overcoming and being inspired by life. This is the legacy we want to leave,” reinforced Cristiane Nascimento, Sustainability, Partnerships, and Communication, who led the dynamics.
